The first program of the New Year will be on January 17, 2026. It will be a webinar by Blaine Bettinger entitled “Introduction to GEDmatch”. The DNA website GEDmatch can be intimidating, so this lecture will start at the beginning and look at some of its basic but very important tools that genealogists can utilize in their research. We will look at the ethnicity tools, the One-to-Many tool, the One-to-One tool, and the X One-to-One tool. The meeting will be from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Parker Library in the second floor Conference Room. There is no cost to attend and all are welcome!

A Beginning Genealogy class was offered free of charge to the public in July 2025. The class was taught by two of our members and was held at the Parker Library. Several members of the community took advantage of the class and are putting their newly acquired skills to use in researching their family histories! The Society has offered this class several times before and plans to offer the class again in early 2026.
Members enjoyed Field Trips to the local Family Search Center in January and April 2025. We learned what free resources you can access there, and each person was given hands-on individual help on a research question. The Family Search Center is located at the LDS Church on Bayou Gulch Road – what a great resource we have in our own backyard!
